Souleymane Traore, currently sits on the boards of two banks, Chairman of Guaranty Trust Bank in Côte d’Ivoire and serves a Director on the board of Banque Populaire (BPCI) representing the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire. He also serves as President of Actions for Development Initiative, ADI, a nonprofit, registered in the US and C.I., that is helping to improve the level of education for underprivileged children in Côte d’Ivoire and the financial inclusion of the rural women.

Souleymane is an ex staff of the International Finance Corporation, (IFC), the World Bank Group, where he spent over 15 years, until 2012. He set up the IFC office in Dakar, Senegal, in February 1997. Including his work with the IFC and Citibank, Souleymane has worked over three decades in banking across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa.

During this long experience, he has touched on many aspects of banking, from merger and acquisition transactions, strategic plans to develop ailing banks, from putting in place their credit analysis to marketing and business development as well as Global Trade Finance Enhancement.

His banking development work has left a positive mark on numerous countries including Lebanon, Pakistan, Jordan, Yemen, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Baltimore, MD in the US.
